Ragdoll Cats and Kittens: Are They Good Pets? Because they are such a great breed, they are quite popular as pets. Have you ever wondered why? Well, let’s just say it’s a long list.

Ragdolls are stunning from the inside out. These cats are attractive due to their appearances, which include sparkling blue eyes and a luxurious coat. If you dig a little deeper, you’ll discover that Ragdolls have a lot of positive personality traits as well. They are gentle, friendly, affectionate, and loyal, among many other qualities.

Continue reading to learn the top reasons why Ragdoll cats and kittens are wonderful pets!

This point may appear superficial, but excellent looks are a plus, right?

Ragdoll kitties are absolutely stunning! Ragdolls, as previously stated, have vivid blue eyes – at least, those that are considered “genuine” breeds. Ragdolls’ looks are simply described as charming, with rounder cheeks to match.

Ragdolls have a silky, fluffy coat with a pointed colouration. This indicates that specific parts of the cat’s body, such as the face, ears, legs, and tail, are darker in colour.

Even yet, because Ragdolls come in a variety of patterns and hues, their look can vary substantially.

Ragdolls come in four basic designs: mitted, colourpoint, bi-colour, and van. These patterns come in a variety of hues, including blue, chocolate, seal, cream, lilac, and red.

To expound on the patterns, mitted Ragdolls, as the name implies, have white feet or “boots.”

Colourpoint ragdolls have a single hue with darker pointed markings, whereas bi-coloured ragdolls have more white in non-pointed areas. Only the ears, tail, and a few other sections of the van design normally have darker colours.

With so many possible variations, your lovely Ragdoll will undoubtedly be one-of-a-kind in look.

RAGDOLL CATS ARE LARGE AND COMFORTABLE.

Are you a large cat enthusiast?

Ragdoll cats are on the larger half of the cat breed spectrum. Adult males often weigh 15 to 20 pounds (6.8 to 9 kilogrammes), whereas adult females typically weigh 10 to 15 pounds (4.5 to 6.8 kilograms). This increases their size above the already huge Maine Coons.

But don’t think of Ragdolls as overweight! They can get overweight if they eat too much, but this breed is often larger than the ordinary housecat.

Ragdolls take a long time to mature. It could take them up to four years to attain full maturity and cease growing. Kittens’ weight, on the other hand, will more or less stabilise after 8 to 16 months.

The biggest advantage of owning a huge cat is their ability to cuddle. Ragdolls come out on top in this one. They create the perfect “teddy bears” to snuggle with on the sofa or in bed, thanks to their personality (more on that later).

RAGDOLL CATS AND KITTENS ARE EXTREMELY CUDDLY.

Ragdoll cats are the cats to have if you want to be loved. Have you ever been repeatedly rejected by a cat? You can rest assured that Ragdolls will not do such a thing to you.

These cats are gregarious creatures who enjoy being in human presence. They are rarely aloof, preferring to be in the company of others to being alone. They adore human interaction much more.

They adore being rubbed and handled, and they will give you their undivided attention and affection in return.

Ragdolls are the type of dog that will happily sit on your lap and sleep next to you. Because they are laid-back, you’ll frequently find them lounging around the house, but they are always ready to participate in your everyday activities.

LOYAL FAMILY MEMBERS, RAGDOLL CATS AND KITTENS

While Ragdolls tolerate outsiders, they normally form a strong and unique attachment with the loving owners who look after them. These cats would aggressively seek out and accompany their favourite individuals around the house.

Ragdolls are frequently seen following their owners from room to room. It’s also not uncommon to find a Ragdoll waiting at the door to greet visitors. It’s almost as if Ragdolls can communicate their gratitude to their owners!

RAGDOLL CATS ARE EXTREMELY WISE.

Some cats are smarter than others, and Ragdolls are well-known for their intelligence. Ragdolls can learn simple techniques, which proves this argument. They can be trained to play fetch or come when called by their name, for example.

Some dogs have even been taught how to walk on a leash! (By the way, we demonstrate how to teach your Ragdoll cat to walk on a leash here!)

Ragdoll cats are also intelligent enough to speak in a way that humans can comprehend. If they’re really hungry, they’ll let you know with a charming meow.

They may continuously paw or hurl their body against the door if they want to be let out. When a Ragdoll cat wants to be petted, it may come up to you and sit directly in front of you, oblivious to the fact that it is blocking your access to your laptop or books.

ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR A QUIET CAT? PURCHASE A RAGDOLL KITTEN!

The noise level of cats and kittens might be a major problem for those who live in shared spaces or in an apartment building.

Ragdoll cats and kittens are angels in this regard! They don’t make a racket to alert you to their presence. When they speak, it is almost always to request food. When more chatty cats become stimulated, they may begin to chatter.

Otherwise, they’d hardly be able to utter a meow. As a result, don’t be surprised if your long-time neighbours are unaware that you have a cat! In fact, as you can see in our article here, if your Ragdoll cat is constantly meowing, you should be concerned.

One disadvantage of having a quiet cat is that Ragdolls may not be able to communicate when they are in discomfort or distress. As a result, it is the responsibility of Ragdoll owners to look for additional signals that their cat may require assistance.

WANT TO CARRY AND SNUGGLE YOUR RAGDOLL CAT? NO PROBLEM AT ALL!

Have you ever wondered where the name Ragdoll came from?

These cats, like ragdolls, have a tendency to go limp when being carried. As a result, they are sometimes referred to as “floppy cats.”

It’s worth noting, though, that not all Ragdolls become floppy when carried. This characteristic could even be considered a stereotype. Most ragdolls, on the other hand, are still easy to carry around because they do not resist or scramble when carried.

WANT THE PERFECT LAP CAT? GET A RAGDOLL CAT.

Ragdolls, as previously said, enjoy sitting (and even sleeping) on people’s laps. They are content to sleep on you for hours as you watch TV. They may even begin to knead, demonstrating their happiness.

RAGDOLL CATS ARE GENTLE ANIMALS.

Ragdoll cats and kittens have a calm demeanour. Even if you accidentally frighten them, they rarely extend their claws. It’s almost as though they’re willing to forgive. These are the kitties that you should never be terrified of.

They’re always calm and laid-back, and their small voices are just as sweet.

Ragdoll cats are such gentle giants!

RAGDOLL CATS ADORE KIDS

Ragdoll cats and kittens are ideal for youngsters since they are gentle and submissive. Children, including babies, are unlikely to be harmed by these wonderful family pets.

Instead, they would participate in with tea parties and dress-up activities to cater to a child’s whims and fancies.

As a result, if you’re looking for a new cat to add to your family, Ragdolls are a great choice. Children can learn patience, responsibility, and respect when caring for a Ragdoll.

Of course, your youngster must first realise that Ragdolls must be treated with care at all times.

This would lay the framework for a positive relationship between the youngster and the Ragdoll to grow.

RAGDOLL CATS AND KITTENS DO NOT REQUIRE EXTENSIVE GROOMING.

You might think that a Ragdoll cat’s coat necessitates a lot of attention. This isn’t correct. With a little grooming, you’ll find that a Ragdoll cat’s coat stays silky.

This is because, while Ragdolls have long guard hairs, they lack a dense undercoat, which is the layer that tends to mat if not brushed on a regular basis.

To keep a Ragdoll looking great, all it takes is a twice-weekly combing session with a wide-toothed steel comb and a soft bristle brush. They don’t require slicker or stiff brushes of any kind.

Brushing a Ragdoll can be thought of as a prophylactic practice to keep tangles at bay and loose fur at bay.

It would also prevent Ragdoll fur from coating your furniture, especially during shedding seasons in the spring and fall.

THE HISTORY OF RAGDOLL CATS IS INTERESTING.

To wrap up this article, let’s take a look back at the history of Ragdoll cats. Understanding this may help you enjoy Ragdolls even more than you already do.

Ragdoll cats are a relatively new breed.

It first appeared in the 1960s in Riverside, California, when Ann Baker crossed a white female Angora cat with a male cat that resembled a Sacred Cat of Burma to produce a litter of kittens, from which selected cats were bred further to generate the Ragdoll.

Ann’s Ragdoll cats have unique characteristics such as a striking appearance, a non-matting coat, and a pleasant demeanour.

Are you daunted by the numerous reasons why Ragdolls make wonderful pets?

Now is a good moment to point out that not all Ragdolls are created equal.

While most Ragdolls share the personality traits listed above, your Ragdoll may have its own quirks! So go ahead and embark on a journey of exploration as you learn everything there is to know about your Ragdoll cat.
